Got a paid job to do tonight i will be using my 5D Mk2 with 16-35mm Mk2 with 580ex Flash with Gary Fong diffuser.
Could someone advise on best settings to use it will be an inside venue with more than likely incadescent lighting an usally like always a dimly light room. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Best settings regarding what? Flash?
It's a little bit short notice and if you're unsure at this point wasn't it a little too soon to take a paying job for something you didn't know how to do?
You could spend days and weeks reading and practicing for this so I don't know how much will sink in before this evening but here goes.
Given that you have a 5D II you could shoot flash free up to 6400 with modest NR in post if you need to. If you don't get the lighting you need and need some help from the flash I'd shoot in M at ISO 400-1600. Set ambient exposure 1 to 2 stops underexposed. You may need some gels to balance flash with ambient light. Instead of the Fong diffuser try bouncing off of low ceilings or walls where able or use a large bounce card on flash. Problem with the Fong is it shouts light in 360 degrees where you don't need it.

Not only that but it seems that, but with your gear list alone something like this would be a something that you would have learned to shoot already.

I'm sorry if I cam across as crass or rude (and I'm pretty sure that I did) it's just that I am trying very hard to get jobs like this, but I shoot with pretty simple gear, and I can't. Thing is with two kids and having recently lost my job funds are getting stretched very thin and, well, again I'm sorry. That was rude of me and I shouldn't have given you a hard time.

Sorry to hear about your situation given time hopefully things will change for the better for you sometimes the simplest of gear can turn out the best of shots so i wouldnt let that worry me. At the end of the day i think having the eye for a good shot is every bit as good as having the best of gear espically when u dont know how to use it.
