yes it does. usually i dont like it cause some people choose the wrong thing to color. but in this picture it works. someone might have choosen the shirt...no the flowers were the right choice...in my opinion. good job and besides the color its a very cool picture. good job!

Hi Lisa, I think this looks pretty COOL with only the flowers and petals colorized.
PS, I like the overall comp as well. ;)

i love the crop! Almost wish her toenails were pink, too. My daughter does the dotted polish as well. I looked at it again. I like it as it is.
good job!

Yes, it works but in my opinion, only because the composition is right.
If the composition wasn't right, it would be just one of those--yawn--fancy and overused PS tricks.

Where are we with that DSLR purchase anyway? LOL

Re the toenails - that's exactly what I was thinking too - I would like to see them coloured. Oh, just noticed you changed your mind - oh well

Love it! Good work using selective color. Some say its "out" but hey, I am from Mississippi so anything "outdated" in other parts of the country are still "in" for us! We tend to be a tad slow. :) (but in a good way) :)

I will post the color one here, I have not yet tried doing her toes yet! I have a 2 year old who has been most DEMMANDING this afternoon/and evening not allowing Mum to play!

We found this interesting wall at the local park. It is a bathroom changeroom.
My assistant went around the corner and thought it would be funny to pick some wild roses and throw them at his sister. Voila......the roses.

thanks so much! it is so great getting such positive, feedback. You know sometimes you wonder when only friends and family see your stuff and say "thats nice". Thats why I love this forum. The B&W pic of my son I use the D-Max action which I use for all my black and whites. I love that action. The color pic has just had its levels and brightness tweaked.

Do you have the link for the action?
I've tried a few but haven't found THE one. :-) Your B&W came out very nice so perhaps I'm inching closer.

Thanks

No problem. Here is the link for the D-Max black and white conversion for Photoshop. Usually after I run this action, I close the file, then re open it again and adjust the contrast. HTH!

great pictures! wow!

offtopic:
how do you guys do your selective color in PS? I used to cut out and layer every bit that i want colored and then just paste them over the b/w image.. it takes a lot of time..

This is how I do my selective color. I use PS 7.
Open the image and do any of your adjustments such as levels, contrast etc. I sometimes up the saturation a bit if I really want the color to pop. Save the image.

Open and do a duplicate layer. I then do my black and white conversion. I use the D-max action(i posted a link a few posts back). Once the action is complete. Go IMAGE~MODE~ and click on the RGB color. Once this is done I use the history brush(5th brush down on the right in the tool palette) to bring back the color in the pic. If it prompts you to flatten the image hit OK.
There are lots of variations of doing selective color, this is just the one I found to be the easiest.
