I've been looking for a camera backpack that's suitable for my needs. I was looking for one that can hold my cam gear, my personal accessories, and my university books. This has proven difficult, and to me the Lowepro Primus AW seems the most suitable.

But Im asking to get more insight. here's what I have...

D200 + Grip
300mm f/4.5
18-200 sigma
50mm
70-200mm
TC 14
several compact flash

and a tripod.

I usually carry a laptop, and about 4 books. The list I came down to was a compuDaypack, compuprimus, primus, and Dryzone 100/200.

I think the compudaypack is too small and the dryzone is too big, but im not sure about the other two, and if anyone has any other suggestions, I'll be happy to read. note I don't need to fit both 70-200 and 300, just one or the other :D

Whats the diff between the compuprimus and primus? is there a size diff?

thanks

Sounds to me like you need one with rollers! :-)

The Primus might be a tough fit for the side opening with a grip. I tried it out with a 5D gripped and it was a no go...

I don't think I like the idea of rollers, I just want a large backpack(Im use to big bags) that can fit a 70-200,50,18-200 and nikon D200 + grip for my trip to san francisco, but also to use everyday, and to use when i go to university in 2010.

can you buy the notebook sleeve for the primus AW, that the compuprimus comes with? is the compuprimus a better bag?

thanks

Notebook exposed = easily stolen.

How big are your books? A4?

im not a huge fan of a camera bag with a laptop slot personally, i mean i personally never run into a situation that i NEED to have my laptop with me while i am photographing unless i am traveling so i dont need 2 bags.

yeah pretty slim A4. The laptop isn't that much of a big deal, I can always take the netbook.

If you can fold your A4 notes, you don't need a laptop compartment. If you can't, you'll need it.

Think tank makes a gret variety of backpacks, from small and narrow to huge. There airport line has really nice security features too.
