I've read over the FAQ and several other threads dealing with teleconverters and the general consensus seems to be that 1.4X is about all you should use as the 2X are too slow and too soft...but these usually are in reference to the 70-200L F4. I've got a Tamron 70-210 F2.8 coming this week and would like to eventually get a TC to extend its range. Given that I like to shoot birds the longer the reach the better so I'd likely try a 1.5X if the 2's are still not recomended. I don't think speed would be a problem with the 2.8 but would it still be too soft?
