It's amazing to look at those shots and just think its another old castle/building if you didnt know the history behind the place and the evil that went on there, good captures

Thanks for the comments-

Mauthausen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauthausen-Gusen_concentration_camp) was almost surreal, situated picturesquely at the edge of the Alps it's strange to think such atrocities took place there.

Most victims were not systematically exterminated as in Treblinka, but were instead worked, starved or in other ways killed. The mortality rate was one of the highest of the concentration camps. Below is the stone quarry where most inmates were forced to work, using primitive tools and often in temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius.

The inmates had to carry the excavated rock up these steps, known as the "Todesstiege" (Stairs of death), and sometimes camp guards would kick them on the top stair so they and the rock would come tumbling down on the people below.

The freezer room. Bodies were kept here until the gold teeth fillings had been removed in the Sezierraum (Autopsy room).

Nice pictures, I am no expert, but have you tried to underexpose them a little to change the mood?
