I have noticed that there's a lot of people on this forum that are interested in macro photography. I have seen some really good macro photographs on this forum, but they seem to be scattered all over. For example, some in the Nature section, some in the experimental section, some in the "Other" category.
Since there is a lot of interest in this type of photography, I was wondering if there would be any value in creating another form specifically talking about macro photography ?
I'm a relatively new comer here and dont want to step on anyone's toes. So, if this suggestion has no merit, please disregard it.

For what is worth, being a newcomer myself , I'll second this. Macro photograpgy actually is a genre on its own, and maybe it deserves the space. Of course, is up do Pekka and the rest of the staff.

Yeah, the final decision is gonna be up to Pekka, but if there is enough interest from the members of the board, he might be more inclined to look into it. :)

I think well done macro's are Fantastic, and wouldn't mind a section that was macro specific. Poor Pekka, We demand so much.
(Thanks Pekka, much appreciation for this fine site.) ;)

There's also a lot of macro related questions such as which lens, how reversed lenses work, extension tubes, diopters, etc. etc. that come up quite often. A separate macro forum will help keep threads like that better organised and most (if not all) the information will be in place.

don't want to put any pressure on anyone
if it's to be and can be done, it'll happen
but there is a lot of things to think of as it's not as simple as it seems (I would imagine) so now that it's been suggested and it's 'out there' I would leave it at that. we have lots of other space still around to post all our macro's and ask questions...no problem

Yeah, I agree that it's not as simple as it might sound... I guess all good things come to those who wait :)
(but then, the squeaky wheel gets the grease... ;) )

I agree, if it is not too much trouble, I think it is an excellent idea.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing.

I think it it's important to note that there are other specialty disciplines that could be put in separate forums....Infrared and astro-photography come to mind.

If we create specialty forums that are divided first by content, and then again by technique, it can get very cumbersome very quickly.
