I had a great time taking photos at Pikes Peak International Raceway this past weekend. I look forward to the AMA races every year. I rode down to the track (a few hundred miles) with a few friends and took 1.5G worth of photos. My goal was to fill up both my 1G and 512 CF cards and I accomplished my goal! I took just shy of 700 photos.

I took all of these photos from my seats. There is one section of bleachers on the infield of the track that I'm able to take descent photos from. (Of course they are the most expensive seats) Everything else would have a chain link fence in your way or be too far away from the action.

Anyway...I've only gone through 1/3 of my pics so far and I am pretty happy with the results and my progress from last year. My photos are getting closer and closer to not needing any editing and are becoming better straight out of the camera.

Nice work ImperialRed. I am partial to Duhamel (gotta love the old guys) and Zemke but I loved and hated the last photo of Aaron Yates. When I cropped out (with a card on the monitor) the pickup in the backround it really popped. He is looking right at you, awesome.

I agree Skip...Thanks for the comments! I already wanted to play with the cropping on the Yates photo when I get home tonight. I'll explore some different options.

I've still got about 450 photos to go through too!

That first one of Jake looks almost like a painting. Very cool!

Can you tell us what lens you were using that day and some idea of your photo data? Im really looking forward to this weekend with the AFM folks at Sears Point. Might even have time to stop by Altamont speedway for some motard action....we'll see.

The lens used for the picture of the rotor was the Vivitar S1 19-35mm 1:3.5-4.5 mentioned in my sig. It's not the fanciest lens thats for sure but it does the job for a 22 year old on a budget. I use that lens for so much of my random shooting. :p
