Shiloh Christian (AR), nationally ranked #6 by MaxPreps, visited my home team tonight. Helluva game. Greenwood pulled the upset 54-51, scoring the go ahead TD with :27 left to play.

54-51, what a shootout!! That would have been a great game to see. I'm guessing there were not a lot of run up the middle plays. That seemed to be all my local team did last night but then again they are probably ranked 45,376 nationally by MaxPreps.
Nice shots with the flash in use. The whites aren't toasted, the blues aren't black and the shadows, while visible, are not distracting. Good setup.

Kevin we are ranked 45,375 so, we own you! They also run everything up the middle or at least opposite field.
First two are very nice John. Must have been a great game to be on the field for.

Hahaha! Sounds like if our teams played we could cover it using 30 yards of the field total and end up with 300 shots of a head down kid running into the back of his guard. Who knows, we might even see a couple of first downs.
Have a good one Danny.

Using only 30 yards of the field would have saved me some leg pain today... I feel like I ran a marathon following the action. Thank God I don't have Scott's Pabst Blue Ribbon beer gut, or Sauk's moustache weighing me down.

very well done John. Here's the best I can do crit wise since most of it is nitpicky...
1 and 2 just need the smallest either shadow bump or bump in the mid levels. not much, just a touch but boy are those nice.
3 is perhaps my favorite here. fix the red eye on the ball carrier and this one's the shiz.
4 is great from an exposure pov but the action leaves me wanting a bit more.
5 is great
6 and 7 simply need a red eye fix
8 Im not sold on and its not the motion blur. Its well exposed just something that doesn't grab me.
I think this is a very solid set John. Interesting settings too as they are quite different than what I typically use but you got some terrific sharpness stopped down a bit and I may give that a shot myself. Well done my man!

John, those look pretty darn good to me (except for the red). So you used the 100-400L for these shots? I may have to try mine and see what happens.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the crit Scott. I was using the 100-400, so f5.6 is my widest. Of course I always think of getting a 300 or 400 2.8, but I would sure miss the zoom, and the cash out of my pocket.
How many keepers do you get in a game shot with a flash? I ended up with 60.

Seems reasonable depending on how many frames you shoot. I honestly don't think you'd miss the zoom as much as you might think. The primes take getting used to but I honestly feel like going all prime more and more often.
