Hi all!!
Just a shot of the ole' Milkyway through my 350d, in my suburban Sydney backyard.
Pleanty of light pollution and I most definately need to work on my processing skills.
Un-guided stack of 10 x 25secs exposures...
Any critique would be muchly appreciated. I want to get better at this.. Such a photogenic target.. I really need a tracking mount!!

Damn, the Milky Way in the Southern Hemisphere is a lot more appealing than in the north. That's excellent, considering your somewhat unfavourable conditions.
As for a tracking mount, you won't need a great one for wide-angle Milky Way shots. In fact you could build a barn-door tracker and get decent results I expect.

Nice work and a lot however to red for my taste and registration if off a bit perhaps ?
On the to do list. A very difficult exercise for sure.
Tks for sharing

Yes it is too red, I have only had my camera a month, so I am not sure what you mean by "registration". I will try and fix that next time around.

Thanks heaps!! I know it is not a very good effort, but with some critique I hope to provide better images.

Registration is just lining up the pictures with each other before combining the images. What software did you use to do the stacking?
Your picture is much better than my first attempt!

Thanks ozziepuppy. I'm going to try again tomorrow night. Can't wait to get out to a dark site... All Red's here in Sydney. :( At least I can get this though. :)
