I just purchased one of these cameras. At first I was really excited. However, this joy has now turned to frustration. I bought through J&R online and I can say with total certainty, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I have gotten 3 defective cameras, the packaging is always mangled and does a poor job or protecting the camera. The cameras have all had dead pixels on the screens, and there is this orange/yellow glow coming through the bottom left corner of the camera.

I don't know if this is a canon issue, or J&R issue, but J&R's customer service I find to be lacking.

As for the camera, I like it, it does not overwhelm me with the new touchscreen. Nikon has the new S70 with capitative touch on a OLED display. The canon seems grainy, and the control scheme of the camera is clunky. You by no means are able to touch everything on the camera. The few things they show you doing by touch are just that, few. I may look into the S90, but after this many problems I am not sure. The photos are clean, but the menus are much more difficult to navigate than I would prefer.

Canon took 2 steps forward and one large step back with this camera because, a lot of the technology in this device is old. How old is resistive touch? It is also very hard to press the features you want, namely on the edges where the screen is raised a bit.

Thoughts?

I think I will order through B&H as soon as I get my refund and send these cameras back. Very disappointed.
