It's not listed in the accessories and I can't one fitting the tripod on the BH...
I have also heard about using PVC to make a short column. That's an attractive option.
What's the part#?

Doesn't Kirk or someone make those after market for the Gitzo? Don't think they do the 2220. Can't you take the top off the column, with allen wrench, and mount it directly to 2220? I thought it had that "feature," for when you want to be 15-20 cms off the ground. J.

Doc. This is the purchase-able alternative:

I was assuming one could just remove head from center column with allen wrench, and mount it directly on the tripod.

I don't think that's possible, cause it's a rapid column and I'll have to remove the whole tilt/swing mechanism to mount it.
Kirk is expenise :(
I think I'll just go get some PVC and a bolt of appropriate diameter. :D

Have you tried rotating the column to a horizontal position and using your ballhead to rotate the camera back up to a shooting position? With the legs spread out really wide (to get low) ... balance shouldn't be much of a problem. Just wondering ... I have the same tripod but I haven't as yet attempted to get really low. Show us what you come up with ...

I don't have a ballhead yet. But I'll post some picures.
I should write a review of that tripod...
