Hello Again,

I just got back from visiting my family in Wisconsin. The title of this thread is stolen from the song "Wisconsin Death Trip" by the metal band Static X. Everytime I go back to Wisconsin I put "Wisconsin Death Trip" on my MP3 player. That song cracks me up. My visits to Wisconsin sometimes feel like death trips because my family is very spread apart. I have to drive for hours to see everyone.

Here are some photos taken during my visit. There are so many great photo ops in Wisconsin that I wish I had more time to get some better shots. These shots were not planned at all; just stuff I saw along the roadside.

Sorry, no dairy cows this time. Let me know what you think.

Interesting. Your first three photos remind me of the pictures that the "Kidd of Speed" took riding through Chernobyl, since the places look old and abandoned. They look like places that time forgot.

I like the first one the most. The darkness of the photo feels right.

I too like Static-X and got a kick out of the subject line.

Good shots, Dave. You always seem to be able to find something of interest to photograph, and make it look great.

I really like the first three. Looks like my kind of place. That third one looks like it could have been taken in Bodie.

Thanks all for the great comments.

Like I said earlier, there is a ton of great stuff to photograph in Wisconsin. There is a barn along the edge of the road every 1/4 mile or so. Also, all the back roads are paved so the farmers can get their milk to market. If I had a week, I could get enough photos to make a barn calender. There are also a bunch of abandoned farm houses. I don't know why the owners don't tear them down, but it's great for photography. A lot of the farmers have a brand new home and across the road is an abandoned home that the family used to live in. Some have wildflowers planted around the old home. It's a photographers paradise. Too bad morning and evening light only last a half hour.

Here's one taken by moonlight of Manitowoc Harbor. Did I mention Wisconsin has two Great Lakes?
