Alright, just for fun...I do not have a macro lens, know next to nothing about macro, and I know how crappy this photo is. But when I saw the topic I really wanted to see what velcro would look like.
Anyone, feel free to shoot velcro and not worry about infringing (fabric pun) on my my fabric selection idea...I'd love to see a better macro of some velcro.

This is actually a 100% crop of an HDR made with Photomatix in Av mode on my Canon 450D
Lens is a Sigma 17-70mm
Image sources were:
ISO 200
1/250 and 1/1000

 OMG. I, won?
Wow, I'm really surprised. That entry was my first ever in any competition in this forum.
Congrats & thank you as well to all you guys who submitted to this competition :D
Those are very amazing pieces of artwork! It gives me a lot of motivation to shoot macro even more:)
I personally like lavanut's entry and I thought he'll be the winner. The color composition & the subtleness of the water drop really amazed me.
Once again, thank you Flo & everyone!

Congrats, Virsago!
As far as my shot and the "guess the fabric" part, if anyone's interested, my shot had black Chinese silk underlying the weaving (from a silk robe I picked up in Singapore a few years ago). It's pretty amazing what a macro lens with tubes can come up with!

Interesting Tony -- I can certainly say silk did not come to mind... but then again I don't have silk anything around here :-)
Nice shot btw.

Thanks, Monty! Silk is pretty incredibly fine as well as strong for being a natural product -- of a spider's behind:)!
If PBase were up and running, I'd show a more backed-off shot so you could get an idea of the magnification involved.

Just to let you all know:
The new macro challenge is -
Macro DSLR Speed Challenge #43 "A Little Spark" (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=757983)
tonylong,
I would have never guessed silk!
Just again shows how macro photography can show the hidden secrets and colors we normally don't see with just our eyes.

Great shot virsago! I liked it as soon as I saw it. Sorry I haven't chimed in sooner but I'm on VACATION :) and internet is somewhat limited unless I want to pay $14/day. I'm on a hunt for free wifi these days.
Looks like I'm going to miss out on the current challenge, one I'd REALLy like to do, but I don't think I'll be able to generate a spark photo while on the trip. I'll see if I can manage something if possible.
