I have some confusion over FE Lock. The manual says that you need to hold down the shutter halfway after poping the flash. Then while holding it, you press the * button to activate FE lock After the prefire, it says you THEN hold down the * button again. Afterwitch you compose the shot and press the shutter release. Is this a typo or am I missing something.

Also, is there any real advantage to AE and FE lock over just holding down the shutter? I have noticed that the exposure seems to be locked as well as the focus while holding the shutter. Though, sometimes the autofucus start resetting if I hold it too long.

Thanks

edit:
Whoops. I have the 300D if that helps any.

You've read it wrong.

Compose your subject, half press to focus, then you can leave the shutter button down or let it go, whatever you like. Now hit *, and then take the photo.
