Hello -
I read on another forum that said the f8.0 on a digital camera = about f32 on a 35mm film camera.

The discussion was on the Sony DSC F717 camera.

I don't have a G2 or G3, but is this true ?
I don't think it is, but just wanted to check here.

The expression "f8" refers to the ratio of the effective lens diameter to its focal lens. In terms of exposure, f8 is the same for any lens or camera. However depth of field is dependent on both f-stop and focal length. The very short focal length of lenses used on digitals means that they have a depth of field approx equal to 5 stops smaller than the equivalent 35 mm camera lens.
