Anyone, need help repairing my D300 (Digital Rebel) - CF reader is trashed. Need's to be replaced - does any know of repair facility other than Canon Facility in NJ!

Or would anyone be willing to take on the challenge?????

Thanks Help

What's broken, your card reader, or your camera? Your post's about as clear as mud to me.

What's wrong with Canon NJ? They've been fast and good when I've had to send stuff in. Less than a week in the shop and working like a charm when the stuff came back.

I opened up my 10D and replaced mine. See photos of the procedure here;

I'm a bit surprised Canon sold you the parts unless you're actually in the camera repair business.

You bet canon will sell the parts. I buy via credit card all the time. Look at the projects on my website.
BTW... Why wouldn't Canon sell parts?

Thank you so much for your work and documentation of the disassembly. I have been looking for a similar look into the G5 with no luck. Canon shows that they have a part number for a Service Manual on CD but the parts department says no such Manual exists. Based upon the work you have done, I wish it were a 10D that I have to replace the CF Unit, rather than the G5. I am hoping to get a g5 for parts and use that to learn the disassembly, before I open my son's camera. I also love the way you displayed the pictures on your website as thumbnails with the exploded view on demand.

Absolutely! I saved over $1,000.00 buying a "damaged" 500mm f/4L IS that was good as new after I installed a $35.00 part from Canon.

the only thing is that the 300D has the cf unit integrated on the main pcb so not easy to replace unless you're realy good in soldering ;)

i can show a picture if someone realy wants to see it.

If one pin is broken, can I replace the one pin? I have the camera back off (referred to rudimentary instructions in Canon manual) but I am now down to the point where I need to get the board out to see the CF socket on the underside. Can one pin be replaced?
