Only new to photography, got my first camera in December of last year and after a few months just had to have a DSLR. This was one of the first pictures I made with the 350D. Apologies if it's a touch overprocessed for some.

Basically what you see in the foreground is a harvested canefield, this shot was taken just as 5 days of constant rain had cleared offshore. The mountain in the background is Mount Coolum and happens to be Australia's second largest monolith aside from Ayers Rock. (Rivoting trivia I know;))

POTN seems like a wonderful community and for the amount of members it comes across as a very helpful and friendly enviroment.

Jake, I don't see it as over processed. It's a great shot, and I would even do a little more with it in PS. A curves adjustment, slightly more saturation, and a little more USM. Don't be afraid to push it.

John- Would you believe I backed contrast and saturation off in curves, and did a 0.1 gaussian blur on this image before putting it up here....gotta love the irony in that:o
