I hope I don't get in trouble for double posting... I got 0 comments in the critique corner, maybe someone here cares to comment (harsh criticism is OK)

OK, so my very first try at OCF, it was a hurried set up because my wife basically ordered me to come and take a pic right away (my daughter is just a couple of days old...).

Flash was camera left at about the same height as my daughter, small lumiquest softbox on it, dialled down to 1/16th. ISO 100, f/3.2, 1/60 sec, 90mm.

I know there's a shadow there and I will work on that (getting a new wireless receiver next week, should be able to hook up my second flash and get fill light I hope).

So, C&C on the lighting please, and I won't take any comments personally, even if it is a picture of the most beautiful subject in the world...

While your subject is indeed beautiful, I am going to have to say that my kids are the most beautiful subjects in the world! ;) All joking aside, I think I would have dropped the exposure down a bit and brought the flash up to try to isolate the daughter a little more. That being said, it is a very evenly lit shot and you definitely do not have that harsh on camera flash which we all hate. Congrats on the new delivery!
