Hi everyone, I was recently asked to shoot a local tattoo artists work for his port, I said yes. I have never shot tattoos and couldn't find much about it. If anyone has any tips it would be much appreciated. I'm working with 2 Alien Beee B800s, 32" reflector, Umbrellas and/or beauty dish w/ grid, and a 24-70 L on a XSi. I'm on a tight budget, I'm sure this is enough equipment, I'm more worried about light placement. I'll mainly be shooting sleeves, back shots & "parts of the body" sort of thing, something I'm not use to. Also, this is my 1st post. Hi, I'm extra medium. Thanks-

I'd go with my biggest light modifier and work as close as I could to get nice soft light that wraps around the subject. Dont be afraid of flat light as this is to show off the ink, not how clever you are at lighting a portrait. Make sure your white balance and exposure are spot on so that the color and contrast are close to realistic.
