g9 - memory card error

Hi,

I've had my Canon g( for about 2 years I guess and recently for some reason whenever I put in a memory card it says memory card error. I have tried two different memory cards and both have the same issue.

Both cards work fine in a PC :(

Called Canon today and repair looks like will be at least £150 which is pretty much half the price of what I paid for the camera !

Tempted to try and take it apart and see if the pins are bent, just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems ?

This is the main reason I only use the USB cable to transfer my images. My G9 is about 18 months old, and no issues with the SD cards. I've only removed the SD cards to upgrade to larger sizes and faster speeds.

Have you tried formatting in-camera?

thanks, the memory card just isn't recognised at all, so can't format it.

I have formatted it on the PC as a test and still nothing. Spoke to the Canon repair centre and they said they would have to totaly strip it down and check if any pins are bent. Guess I just have a £300 paper weight now :(

IMO just a bad card...try another one.....
