I've been shooting sports photos at my highschool this year. I've been selling the photos at my website www.trumendousz.com for $3 for a 4x6 and so on and so forth...the prices are on the site.

The softball team has asked me if they can use some of my photos in a DVD slideshow that they make at the end of each year. Originally I was going to make the DVD for them, but I am unable to do that.

How would I go about pricing these photos? I know that their budget isnt that large. And for a slideshow, you need a good amount of photos.

I'm for sure not going to charge top dollar. That's not what I'm all about. But I do want to be fair to me as well as them.

Any suggestions?

Well heres my approach. I shoot candids for several horse show groups throughout the season (April-Sept) I make out pretty good from my website www.pbase.com/jpferguson
End of year I put a slide show together at no charge. You are thinking "is this guy nuts"? Well....
At the banquet I get a free table to display 'premium' stuff, i.e. framed/matted items - photos on canvas, collages etc. I also run off a couple 'proof books' to pass around.
Free dinner and applause for the SS = some great PR and some very nice photo orders.
Last year I figured I made about $85.00 an hour from the 'free' slide show.

My inclination would be to let them use the photos for free since they have allowed you to make money from photographing them. Ask for an acknowledgment in the program or intro speech and if they will let you have a table as suggested above, that's even better.

To Setprime,

I'm curious about your Pbase gallery. I was thinking about joining as well.
Are you selling prints or downloads or framed photos from there ?
Is it a regular account ?

Thanks!
