Hi, all.
Thanks for the compliments. The sky nearly took my breath away; I was ever so grateful that I had a camera with me.
Stan, it was taken in Illinois, Sunday afternoon. I have another of it, a deeper orange/red, but it's got some power lines running through it...and I don't think I can PS well enough to handle it well.
But I do love this one - all orangy and like a fire spreading over the land...it's such big sky out there, I don't often realize it here in So CA. There is a majesty in it's expanse, a hugeness and brilliance that seems to get lost here in the city.
Thanks for looking, and again, thanks for the compliments. I do appreciate them.

Don't usually like so much sky, but this is an exception. The colour are mesmerising. Great shot.

What an excellent shot, I like your composition a lot, it's one of those breaking the 'rule of thirds' shots that makes it special also.

I unfortunately was stuck inside, without the camera for this, I looked outside and saw the beginings of a nice sunset :(. I'm glad someone caught it though! Nice shot!

Aren't those colors just grand? I wouldn't normally take a shot of the sky, but the the emensity of the colorplay - a blanket, really - was just too much to resist.

Thanks, Bikerider. I didn't even really think about the 3 rule, but just moved the camera around until it looked right in the lens. I usually try to remember at least one of the composition rules (lines, balance, 3, et cetera) but this time was indeed one of those time where you just want to reach up into the fiery sky and grab the most you can. So I did. And it does work! :)

Glad you got to see it, though...I was about 2.5 hours south of you, and at an outdoor BBQ (on the way back to the farm, actually), and caught some of the earlier shots, as well as some of the later shots, but this one just popped out at me when I was looking at them later as the best of the bunch. There is one with a dead tree in it, with a completely different feel to it. Maybe I'll size it and post it also.
Thanks for the compliments, everyone. I'm starting to get the hang of this camera, and I am having so much fun.
