I have to add that the freckled boy, and the other head shot of a little boy are my sons, the little girl with the piggy tails in the sweater is my daughter. They are Austin, Wyatt and Annika.

Very nice shots. I like them, especially the two baby shots (i.e., 1st and 3rd).

Is the baby really being suspended in that mesh? Sure looks like it.

Yes, the baby is in tule. I have the Mother hold it up off the ground just about 6 inches or so.

Wonderful shots. I believe #1 is the most unique baby photo I've seen in a very long while. Nice job.

Without a doubt very professional! And that first one is very unique and I love it, Reminds of the stork delivering a baby.

Thanks guys! I am still finding my way around here, I will have to check out all the forums. This seems to be a wonderful place with lots to learn!

I think they are all wonderful.

But...I'm a bit distracted by the eyes in the 4th photo, looks like 2 lights per eye.

Read somewhere that 1 catchlight was better.

I'm totally amazed at the 1st image. The baby in the mesh. That is superb. Brilliant colours too.

Where is the "jaw just dropped on rolled along table" smily?

kgoff,

For the image of Aspen did you do anything in particular for processing? To me it has some of the tonal qualities of some pro films I've used. I've been trying to achieve that effect, but as of yet no luck.

As everyone else is saying..... Nice work!!! :)

pjd83 - the 4th image does have multiple catchlights, becuase he was sitting near a window, so it was not a light sorce from say my strobes.

mark_48 - the image of Aspen was shot in color, I duplicated it and ran my prefered sepia conversion, then dropped that on top the color and reduced the opacity to my liking, thus bringing the color through the sepia. I call this the "half sepia" look or muted color. LOL I know it probably isn't the most saavy way to achieve this look, but I like it myself.

Ah. I see, using natural lighting.

I like the poses that you've used. Very natural, and very life-like. (I'm a bit bitter about photography as half the time poses are unnatural and look wooden).

I like the expression of the girl in the jumper, its as if the camera has entered her world and she's a bit startled by it.

These are very nice. Do you mind sharing what program you use to make the frames. If you do them in photoshop, will you tell how you did them as well? I have not been able to come up with any I like. Yours are very nice.
thanks

That first one is fabulous! so sweet. But you didn't get the stork in the pic.....?

Your kids are cute. I love the freckles on your son and you got a great smile.

I love the angle of the shot of the dark haired older girl. AND her attitude comes through in the expression. Well done.

smittymike19: #3 was natural light on the floor in the client's living room. It was actually very dark in the room, pretty poor lightening to be exact, so I had to shoot wide open...hence the very shallow dof....there is a stair case in the distance behind her which can barely be made out. I used my 50mm 1.8 lense, as I almost always do. I don't usually shoot quite that wide open, but I didn't really have a choice here, and I think the grain and shallow dof really helps make it a "timeless" photograph, which is what I was hoping for with this baby anyway. Here are my settings for that image:
1/160th hand held
f 2.2
50mm
ISO 800

pdrow : the frames are actually from a set of "grunge borders" that I bought from another photographer ages ago. I never had any luck in making them myself either. I will look through my paperwork and see if I can find the contact info for you.

Yes, it is tule. I just get three yards of the finest softest tulle at Walmart. It is about $1 a yard...and makes a great prop!

funny, there used to be a lady on a July board that i posted on for women who had babies in july of 2003 and she had three kids with the same names! Wasn't you was it? Great shots by the way. I love taking pics of kids, they are just gifts from God and it's fun to be able to capture that sweet innocence!
