I attended my first airshow with a camera this past weekend as well. We Michiganders need to get together sometime. Well, here are some shots from my first attemp. Feel free to comment (although I know about the oversharpening; forgot to change the setting on the action).

I had to overexpose for the jets and do lots of playing with the sky on this

Dan, thanks for the comment. I couldn't comment about the jobs... I had never really been into planes or their history and attended this with a friend. Other than the obvious events of the airshow, I have to plead ignorance.

Bruce, thanks for taking the time to look and comment. I am always trying to improve, but was more impressed with these than I thought I would be on my first flight shots. Lighting was a bear, since all these were taken between 2pm-5pm. Unfortunately, there was only a single sweetspot, and it tended not to be where the planes were the majority of the time.

No that's just an air national guard post. However, it does have the coast guard and marines on it too. The Army detachment on the base is closing.

What day do you go ? I went on Sunday.
We had a great time, I had 3 kids with me- so I wasnt able to practice with my new camera and 70-200mm lens like I wanted. It would have been nice to meet a forum member while I was there.
Maybe next time

Pamela, I was there on Saturday from about 2pm till the end. I had thought about going Sunday to try and get some better shots after reviewing what I got Saturday, but they were calling for rain. I am glad that you enjoyed the shots, and surely hope that you've gotten to get out and practice with that new lens since!

Ha ha, I had not even noticed that it was a Nikon strapped over his shoulder... Oh well, we can't all be perfect.
