Why don't animals and insects ever play the game!!!

I waited and waited for the sun to show just so it would open it's wings and I'd get the orange wing tips - the sun showed and the butterfly took off!

Anyhow, this is the best I managed! Comments please.

And what do you believe is unsatisfactory with this nice contrasty well-composed photo? Looks fine across the big lake in US. J.

Flattery will get you everywhere!!!  It wouldn't take notice of my "art direction" I kept asking it to open its wings the only response I got was when it open it's wings and took off!:D ;)

Peter, you suprise me - they are quite common at this time of the year and can often be found in Bluebell woods.

Cheers

Unlike your robins and goldfinches, your orangetips look a lot like ours (at least with the wings folded)...LOL. Nice capture BTW.

Thanks for all the comments,
By no means my best shot (in my opinion) but just to illustrate what the opened wings look like here's one which I took later in the day but couldn't seem to get the angle right.

David, they're great shots. :D

I haven't seen any of these since moving up here, I suspect they're 'softy southerners'
