I'm considering getting a UV filter for my Tokina 11-16 but I am unsure of which one to get, I have a 67mm Cokin Screw in filter for my EF 24-85 which I bought whilst I was in Chamonix on a Ski holiday to correct the blue cast from all the snow, But I have found that it causes a lot more flaring than if I have no filter fitted, As far as I can see there is no form of anti reflective coating on the filters surface and no mention of any coatings on the packaging. So I am reluctant to buy another Cokin screw in filter for the Tokina.

I understand that filter choice can be a subject of great debate, and I don't wish to spark off any argument etc.

Can I have peoples suggestions on which brand/model of filter is likely to have the lowest chance of flaring?

Ideally I'd like to buy one in store from my local camera shop, who stock the following filters:
B&W MRC, Hoya G series, Hoya Coated, Hoya HD, Hoya HMC, Hoya Super HMC Pro1-D, Kenko Digital E series, Kood & Sigma EX DG series

Read the Protective Filter FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=368177)? The generally accepted best brand/lines are the B+W MRC, Heliopan SH-PMC and Hoya S-HMC. B+W has recently introduced the XS-Pro line, which, like their F-Pro designation, refers to the mounting of the filter; MRC refers to the multicoating. Hoya's just introduced a new HD filter line with multicoating claimed to be comparable in effectiveness with their S-HMC but with improved durability and ease of cleaning. Initial anecdotal reports are favorable. I've got B+W MRC filters on all my lenses FWIW.

If you decide to go with a UV filter for your lens I recommed going with th B+W f-pro filters.

You can find some at a cheaper price here http://maxsaver.net/

i like Hoya that B+W because you can attached a P Cokin Filter system to it. It makes me feel safer than taking off the UV filter then attaching the P Coking filter rack while on Hoya, you just simply attached it to the front. I have both Hoya and B+W and I don't see any difference besides that.
