Well, I wanted to learn more about this technique so I did a three shot exposure via AEB -/+ 2 and then process the images through Photomatix. Don't mind the dirty car. Its getting a well deserved bath in the morning.

one more thing. that lens flare in the first picture. is it because i shot at f/11? will a lens hood remedy that or should i just not shot directly towards a light source?

a point source of light will always give flare but I believe a small aperture increases the effect. A lens hood won't help.

You can clone out the lens flare from the lights. What you should be more worried about is the shadow from the photog at the bottom of the frame!
