Well its been a couple months since my friend found skittles in the trash can and gave him to me :) So I figured I would post one of my latest experiments that I used him for.

I took this with my 5D with 50mm 1.4 lens. I over exposed the shot to only show his face, and tried to get the best focus I could on his face, without completely blowing it out. The first shot is the shot I took, and then the second one is one I altered in photoshop with a glass filter to make it look more like art. CC is appreciated :)

Too blown out, and too overdone for me. I'm just an amateur and expect you have more talent in your left hand than I do overall. And I love cats, so please don't take it personal, I just don't get the intended effect. I'm not seeing your "kitty" in these pictures, or art, just blown highlights and heavy post processing. BTW, my opinion is worth about what you paid for it.

Pet the cat for me anyway! ;)

Haha thats ok, I appreciate your opinion. My experiment was to try and only get his markings, but not the shape by over exposing it. The processing was only a glass filter applied, to print it out on a canvas more of like a painting instead of a photo. I am still experimenting, trying to get the right focus and exposure for this :) I seen somewhere in another thread where someone has done this with a person, and I wanted to try it on my cat haha.

I like the concept, actually. I suggest you keep trying. I would start with less exposure and possible different framing. You can blow out the highlights in post but you can't recover them if they are not there in the first place.

I like the contrast work as I have tinkered with it myself as well.. Well done
