not so good...

i'm having problems activating my PS CS4 upgrade and spent 90 minutes on hold last night, trying to get in touch w/ support. Ended up hanging up when I exceeded their operational hours...I guess I'll try again tonight...

Typical. Honest people jump through hoops after spending big bucks on a product while pirates have no such problems.

Aaargh! Tell me about it! What really annoys me are all those anti-piracy messages one has to sit through at the start of a DVD. I'm almost tempted to only buy illegal disks as I'm sure the priates don't copy those messages.

It took me like 5 minutes to activate my copy of CS4 but it wasn't an upgrade. Piracy is so much easier though. It makes it sad really.

Unfortunately Adobe's CS is not customer serve at all, just a hired phone bank in India with the operators just reading from a book. I had a problem with them when trying to convert a PC license to Mac, the stupid people could not read the Letter of Destruction I faxed 5 times - I mistakenly scanned it upside down, they couldn't turn the file over.

Side note; so, you actually need to change the license to get CS4 to work on a Mac, when moving from a PC?
I plan on upgrading (lol) to a mac fairly soon, and I just thought I had to deactivate it on the PC then activate it on the mac... Didn't know the codes\licenses were specific

Adobe CS is a joke, easier to pirate than to deal with them.

just as i was about to kill the connection i got through to someone...ten minutes later and i am sorted.

i think the problem stemmed from the fact that i was upgrading from CS 3 extended to CS 4 (non-extended), and the drop-down menu didn't allow for CS 3 ex as an option.

No, in my case my PC crashed so I decided to just run on CS on my Mac, Adobe will switch your license from on platform to another. You need to then fill out and sign a Letter of Destruction for your PC version, stating it will be destroyed and not used again.

I would bet that it would take less time to find a crack. If you own the copy there should be nothing illegal about it. I complained to MS one time about not having the software that matches the key on the case, and I was told that I could install another copy of the same OS with a different key that it would be legal because the OS installed was the same version. I.E. XP Pro = XP Pro. The product key on the case does not have to match the product key in the computer. He may have been wanting to get me off his back and was willing to say anything.

Adobe doesn't have customer service. They have a bunch of hacks sitting around spinning their wheels and getting paid for it. They are also taking money away from the real tech support professionals state side that are out of jobs.

I had a CS2 Premium package that was loaded once when it was new and then became unusable when we needed to reload it because the installation key was lost by a Tech. Adobe refused to give us a new key to license it saying we had to buy a upgrade to make it work. We even had the original receipts but they wouldn't budge. In the end I had the end user try GIMP and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Just another case where Open Source saved the day in IT land.

I completely agree, Adobe customer service is a complete joke. I have given up on installing CS3 on my Vista X64 computer (yes I know that is the problem in itself).
