Meta tags help!

Where in the HTML code are these to be inserted? I think I once tried, but no clue if it worked.

Would be great if someone can explain how I get meta tags into my website and exactly how they work.

Ehm, and while I'm at it...why can't I upload a bigger AV??? Everytime I try it refuses anything but 80x80. And no I haven't overgone the size limit either. Weird.
