i'm gonna be doing a small exhibit @ a local place next month, and am wondering if people add any details to the image (band/performer, date, venue, etc) or just leave the image as is.
some performers will be obvious, others much less so. and if you add it in, do you make a border for the image and add it directly so that it prints out? or just as a small tag/informational bit next to the image?

Usually when I see images on display from performers, I do see a small blurb in the corner of the image with pertinent details. Where is your exhibit?

When I've done exhibits,. I frame and mount them, and then I have a small placard, (tiny really) just under or to the side at the lower right corner of the artwork.
The placard always has the title of the image, ( and or number if needed ) date, and some info about it, and price as displayed.
For performances I do include the date of the event, and the artists/show title.
This placard is made up simply by printing this info in a table with solid borders in word, font size is 10 to 12 points,. ( ie: again, very small )
Then the table is cut into individual cards,. which I contact glue to a bit of foam core the same size.

I have the artist name and usually date and place in the image or I use placards [use even index cards if you have to] with artist information. Since, most of my pics have the artist informaoitn as well as my name and email, I now add placards to the side that provide my thoughts or insight on a photo or quotes from the artist or artist song.
Adding such information really further engages the viewer with the pic and with you and adds so much to the enjoyment besides the immediate visual appeal of the photo.
p.s. Narlus, whatever you do, do not get married or divorced in Massachussets! Maybe its too late :( Unless you marry a rich woman :)

cool, thanks for the suggestions. I think that CDS has a good system which I'll try.
coppatop, this is just a one-off @ a recording studio in Jamaica Plain. The owner had hired me to do some head shots for updating his website this summer, and is starting a series of monthly in-house events. he pitched the idea to me to have a little showing, so i gladly obliged. it's next month.
RPS, i'm already married to a lovely lass (15 years now) and it'll stay that way. :D
why, are alimony laws particularly onerous in Mass?

Your state has some of the most draconian alimony rules.

Kudo's for you Narlus - thanks for sharing the good news.
As Jake mentioned, a small placard with pertinent info off to the side is appropriate. Some use just a blank 3x5 card while others will mount it on some white foam core for a more substantial appearance. Here is an example of the simple arrangement:
