The EXIF showing ISO 400 , f/2.0 , 46-secs with a 20d..... am i reading this correct ?? Is your lens the 100mm f/2 USM ? Mike was this piggyback mounted on a EQ mount (must be , no star trails) ? And you say it's a single 46-sec shot ? Unbelieveable  . I've shot M31 lotsof times from the 18-55 kit lens up to 300mm using 1600 ISO and i have never got this kind of detail with one shot much less stacking a dozen images and still not get this much . Convience me this is a single 46-sec shot ....Please !

Hi Ron

Yep the exif does not lie. The 20D IR or moded helps a lot. Yes it is the the 100mm F2 USM both mounted on a ( Sold by Hutech ) KEnko mount. Small mount but the quality of a Takahashi. Treatment is from the Lodriguss book. Start with the white balance. A layer that I have applied blurr and subtracted and curved (details) and de noised. Nothing special. It's all in is book including the choice of lenses that I happened to have. I have the 200mm also that I planned to use on my next trip.

It would be quite interesting indeed how well a longer lens does on that mount . When i shot film i used a 300mm f/4 for long exposers piggyback mounted on my scope . You can see this in my equipment page on my website .

Great work Michel. Your shot clearly demonstrates that single exposure lens images can reveal more than most would expect. I did a similar test with my 100-400 piggy backed on my previously owned LX200/fork mount. As I recall(been years) this was about 90 seconds exposure under fairly dark and steady skies with an unmodified 20D(235mm @ ISO 1600).

I'm envious of your Mewlon, awesome instrument. I have a meger Sky 90 II and FS-60C but they're great little scopes

Keep up the great work.
