Does anyone know what is causing my photos to be too dark? When I preview them before developing them, they look fine. Thank you.

If you attach a sample picture to your post, or give us a link to one, i'll take a look. If you know how, post the histogram too, if you don't, don't worry about it.

Images will usually always look brighter on the cameras LCD screen than they actually are when viewed on a properly adjusted computer monitor. Check that your exposure compensation (page83 in the manual) is set to the standard exposure index for average lite scenes.

(This is on a 20D, right?) The rear display on a 20D is not perfectly calibrated to anything, and there is a variable brightness control, so the image appearance doesn't count for much in exposure terms. The histogram, however, should be reasonably accurate. If it shows that you have an underexposed image, then you probably have an underexposed image.

You should check your exposure compensation. It may be set to be underexposed. I haven't had a problem with the exposure on my 20D....it has been great for me so far.

Well all except the sandbox that came with it on the sensor....lol

How does the histogram look? To the left?

What type of metering have you used?

What were the examples that came out dark (high contrast; indoor, outdoor, etc).

I almost allways shoot with my Canon SLRs a litle to the right with exposure compensation.
