Well, the good news is that I just received my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS and my Canon 1.4x II TC!! The bad news is, I might need a bigger backpack! I currently have a Canon 200EG I am carrying:
- Canon 40d Body
- Canon 70-200mm IS f/2.8
- Canon 70-300mm IS
- Canon 28-135mm IS
- Charger
- 5 Batteries
- Cleaning stuff
- Rain Sleeves
- Misc stuff

This backpack worked great before I got the 70-200 and the 1.4x TC, but it seems to be VERY tight now.

I really like the backpack style bags and wondered if any of you had any recommendations on a larger backpack that would work better?

Thanks!

I have the Calumet BP935 backpack, and it easily carries all the items you listed plus a couple more lenses and many more doodads - with room to spare. The pack is comfortable and the small pouches on the waist straps also come in handy. It also has tripod/monopod straps on the outside and a few other handy features. Link is here:

How much 'misc' stuff?

I'd suggest a Flipside 200 or 300, as well as a Think Tank Streetwalker (Pro if you have a gripped cam).

You can easily fit all that stuff into the Lowepro Fastpack 350 Backpack. I have one and I can easily fit all my things in there.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I definitely like the looks of some of these! Would all of this fit into the Flipside 300? This one doesn't look any bigger than what I already have. I will definitely keep my eye out on the "sell" forum to see if any of these pop up. And as far as the "misc" stuff, I have some sample pictures, my wireless transmitter, lens caps, some plastic trach bags, warranty info, batteries, etc. Thanks!

There is a flipside 400 that can be found on eBay for 119 or on bh for 149 that should leave you some room to grow. I use to have the 300 and I do not think it will hold your gear. If it does you will be selling as soon as you add anything else.

I've gone through about 4 backpacks and camera bags trying to find the perfect one for my gear. I have about the same stuff as you do. I purchased the Tamrac 5375, my 50D with grip and 300mm +1.4x attached fits fine, with room for extra stuff, and a lens or two. I also purchased 2 padded soft cases for lenses and they attach outside the pack on the sides. ( one lens on each side and well protected ) It's not a giant pack, and it's just perfect for what I have. Check it out!

My Adventure 9 can fit the 70-200 2.8 IS with the 5D2 with 24-70 attached and the 580. The upper compartment can fit a few more accessories.

I ahve bought (and sold) lots of bags. Some too small, some too big. I now have and will keep a Thind Tank shape shifter. Never too small (it expands) and usually not too big (it shrinks!!)

are you trying to bring every single lense you own as well as misc. gear every time you go out and shoot?
