Is there something better to use instead of baby oil on a models skin when you want to spray her down with water so the water beads up?

I've seen glycerin mentioned, with a spray bottle to apply the fine beads of water.

Where might one go to buy glycerin?

Any drugstore will have glycerin. But you will still need the mineral/baby oil on the skin so the water beads up. Experiment with mixing ratio to water... I'd start with 1 part glycerin to 5 parts water.

In my still-life days I'd wax a beer bottle before spraying it with a water/glycerin mix.

Also after using the mixutre take out the sprayer and stem part of the bottle and run water through it to clean it as the glycerin can really gum-up the works.

Kroger even carries glycerin in the pharmacy area. It works pretty good too.

Johnny V, I like your idea of waxing the bottles beforehand.

Jon.

Don't mean to crash the thread but what about a grease/sweat look for a garage shoot with a model? Would this glycerin method work?

I think I saw that done down in Tijuana once.

A friend of mine swore by using sun tan lotion. Not as greasy or slimey and was easier to clean up.
