Quick question about the battery grip made for the 20D:)
I have never used or seen one in person so I'm wondering if I can still use the battery that came with my camera with the grip attached? How does it work? Does it use AA batteries as well as the 20D stock battery all within the battery grip? I have no clue how it works so could you fill me in my friends?

The battery grip will hold the battery plus another one, or it will hold some crazy amt of AA batteries, (i think its 8) it comes with a AA battery holder that just pulls out if your not using double A's. I love mine, with the two batteries give it epic battery life, well worth the price of buying another battery. Hope this helps............Joe

yes you can use your original 20D battery (BP-511A). In fact, you can get another battery 'cause the grip fits two BP-511A's or BP-511's. The grip actually plugs into the camera's battery compartment. You have to remove the battery door, which is very simple. It also comes with a mount that you can insert AA batteries to use in the case your BP511s aren't charged. it either uses 4 or 6 AA batteries.

with the two batteries give it epic battery life, well worth the price of buying another battery. I have 4 BP511s, and I've never had to change out in the middle of an event. the 1st two that I put in the grip last a VERY long time . . . and that includes chimping.

Just wanted to comment on this.... I went to an amusement park for a day and stayed 12 hours straight (10am - 10pm) and had my 20D on all day and only let it go to sleep between taking pictures. I took a few hundred pictures and did a bit of chimping and the battery indicator never showed any signs of getting low. I had a BP-511 and a BP-511A in the grip.

I can't rave enough about the battery grips. I have one on my drebel and one on my 20D and I can't imagine life without them. I RARELY have to charge my batteries with the grips, and certainly not in the middle of an event/shoot! I absolutely LOVE them!

Thought I should chime in and mention this thread too about the grip's faults

Don't forget THIS (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=49908&highlight=bg-e2) fifteen page thread of horrors about the BG-E2.
I bought mine 2 months ago, and it spent 1 month at Canon Service for the "flexing/power disconnect" issue. I was sent a brand new one, and it had the SAME issue. So, it's been back at Canon Service for another 1 month now.
I would say it's a crapshoot. There is about a 15% chance chance you will get a grip that fits snuggly, and has no problems whatsoever.
