Okay- So I am headed to the British Virgin Islands and I think I would be a fool not to take my gear. It is my honeymoon and I want to take a few pix of us and well, I just can’t pass up the opportunity to shoot some of the most beautiful parts of the world. So after all that exposition, what I need to know is how can I pack my gear and get it the 6k miles without it being broken into very, very expensive pieces? To complicate things I will not be able to take my camera as a carry-on. So I am thinking aluminum case or something similar. My gear list is as follows: 10D with grip, 70-200L, 24-70L, 550ex, and a dvd burner. I have a very good feeling that this is not a uncommon problem so please feel free to offer your suggestions. Thanks for reading the post and do please comment. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Thanks

My suggestion: insure it and be sure it's specified on the policy, and leave the 70-200 at home unless you really want to have it. You can get hard cases from hardware stores in the states, you just cut the foam to suit what you want to put in. You can get specialist hard cases that are waterproof and all, but they're more expensive of course!

Also, be sure to pay more attention to your wife than your camera while you're on holiday, otherwise you won't keep her long! ;)

Better worry more about the wife than the camera!!
