The initial shot was really underexposed so bringing up the exposure level with RAW helped but it kind of got rid of the back portion of the plate.. does that really take away from the photograph? any other suggestions? color too strong? Any other ideas on how to make this a more solid shot?

It seems to me that the front of the plate is in focus, whereas, I believe it should be one or a few of the strawberries. Also, it seems a bit bland. There's nothing exeptional about it. You could spice up the photo a bit with some props. Maybe a coloured plate, or some greenery in the background. At the moment it's simply a photo of some really nice looking strawberries that I want to eat!!

I'd also like to see some of the straberries more in focus, however I like the glass plate.

I'm with sixshot with regard to the plate and having the strawberries more in focus - perhaps a strip of tin-foil on the back of the plate might help?

I don't mind losing the back portion of the plate.
There's no excuse for an underexposed studio shot, is there?
Reshoot it, & crop in a bit, too.
Try one with the fill light "hot" (direct) instead of bounced & see if it gives the image more "pop". Compare that with a shot with a bit more contrast & see which one you like best.
