I'm heading to the Oyster Run on Sunday. It's a big bike rally with 10-20k bikes (imagine 15,000 bikes all in a row, most with generous chrome and shiny paint, all in the bright sun...), and I'll be shooting with my 50 1.8. I've got a petal hood and a polarizing filter, however, the filter cannot be used with a lens hood. Most of these will be snapshots, but obviously I'd like to get the best shots I can.

What say ye?

Well, I think you'll get more benefit from the CPL than you will from the hood. You can always get away without a hood, by being mindful of your position to the sun, etc.. and you can always use your hand or a piece of paper if you need to block flare.
