Hi. Long time reader / forum stalker but this is my first post.

I no longer like my 70-200mm f2.8 L IS. I dont like 2.8 anymore, and would like to chase after paper thin DOF for artistic shots. I shoot portraiture alone, and the occasional wedding and by occasional, i mean twice a year. I shoot serious portraiture at least 10 times a year.

Has anyone sold off their 70-200mm f2.8 L IS for an 85L II? Do you have any regrets?

Yah, if you're serious about portraiture, you'll want f2.0 and less. The 85 would serve you well, or you could consider a Sigma 50/1.4, and then toss in a canon 135f2 for good measure...same price as the 85/1.2, two outstanding FOV for your portraits.

my 24-70 and 17-40 will be sold soon...

the 24-70 will be sold for the 35L and the 17-40 - albeit a good lens - will be sold for the 135.

does the 85mm 1.2 require an ND filter in daylight, if so, how many stops? 2 stops?

I love the 70-200 f2.8 IS on the 5D II for portraits so I couldn't see myself selling it.
