I'm about to buy a WA lens and I'm in limbo between the Tokina 17 ATX-Pro and the Canon 20 2.8. I'm not that fussed about ultimate wideness. I'm not a great fan of the wierd perspective you get with ultra-wides. So the 3mm difference is not an issue. I'll probably never use it wide-open either, so the 2.8/3.5 doesn't matter. What I want is image quality and build quality (in that order). You don't hear much about the 20mm, is that because it's one of Canon's poorer lenses ? I hear alot about the Tokina (mainly from drisley :-)) so should i just get the 17mm or has anyone had any experience with the 20mm ?

Cheers

Gary

I have the Sigma 20/1.8. It is 'big and heavy", but does a wonderful job. I shoot quite a few shots indoors and this lens is great. I paid $300 for it. I was thinking about getting a WA zoom, but really don't have the need for one yet. Check out www.fredmiranda.com or www.dpreview.com for more info and comparisons.

If you're gonna use the lens at f8, then I would say get the cheapest one.......both are nicely built and focuses pretty fast...........and at f8, I'm not sure one can tell which is which.
