Hey all,

what is a good scanner to be used for film media [rolls, negatives, slides,...] for 35mm and medium format and large format up to 8x10"?

Tareq, this is one that might do what you want. I used an earlier version of this scanner, it did an acceptable job with transparencies larger than 35mm. For 35mm slides you might need another scanner.

It seems a high end or high quality scanner, but it is the first time i heard about this scanner, so how is the results, performances, compared to Epson and Nikon scanners, how good is this scanner?

Microtek manufactured drum scanners, that was one reason we bought the one we had. I really can't compare it to Epson because I never used one, Nikon scanners do a better job with 35mm slides for sure. Any consumer grade scanner is going to fall short of a drum scanner. We used it for quick scans from film for use in composing layouts, the final scans were usually done on a drum scanner. It did come in handy for prints from transparencies and scans for internet.

Epson v700 will do 4x5 and their newly announced v600 seems to be a v500 replacement. Both have digital ICE and do pos, neg, 35mm film or slides, and medium format panos up to 6 cm x 22 cm.

My eye is on Epson V750 long time unless there is something else will change that, i will use it as a starting and for something else normal [like documents and so], but if later i can find much better scanner for medium format films and large format then i may upgrade.
