I think I had the light way too high on this shot but it was a quick and dirty learning shot. I'm going to take some pictures of my family and the goal was sort of to see how quickly I could set up and with the least amount of adjustments to keep everyone happy Thoughts?

The great thing about the 580 flash is the bounce card and the fact that you send the main light just about anywhere. But the card doesn't do everything you need in some circumstances. That's when its good to have an accessory sto-fen or softbox or other diffuser.

I've got a Lumiquest flash softbox. The problem is the 580 was in an umbrella camera right. I should have used the on camera flash for a little fill perhaps.

There is a mini diffuser that fits right over the built-in flash--can't think of the name at he moment.
