I think I'd crop most of the empty sky out of the 2nd one.

I think I'd crop most of the empty sky out of the 2nd one.
So if you have taken the 2nd shot. Would you have taken 1/3 sky and 2/3 land? in a pano sorta way. Or crop it so that it highlights the subject which is the Chinook.

I for one thought it was fine the way it is.

I'd actually take some of the land out of #2 to further enhance the solitude and leave it even less "anchored."
