After finishing work at 12 noon and seeing what a perfect day it was I thought it would be stupid not to visit the DDMC circus for the final time this year at Croft and try to improve my panning technique, a 3 year old could have taken better pictures than I did at the superbikes a few weeks back. Lessons learned, camera settings written down and off I went. Today at croft we had the Porsche Club Championship, some MG's and the Northern Sports and Loons, there may have been others- I didn't get a program. My tools were a Canon 400D with a Canon EF-S IS 55-250mm lens. I'm not sure how the EXIF data has vanished from some pictures, ISO 100, shutter speed about 1/160, F/8.0. Full size of any pic are available.

I know this isn't perfect but I like the high-res picture so much, all the little details on the car. Click for high res.

And here it is on fire. I really like how the shadow of the car and spoiler breaks up the smoke.

C&C are most certainly welcome, thanks for looking.

Hi Asi, do you use a monopod at all to steady yourself? A few just seem to be missing that pin sharpness (I suffer from exactly the same thing)!

They were all hand held, a monopod is definitely on my list if I get the chance to visit Croft more often though. I also find myself giving the camera a little extra push just before I take the picture so I need to get out of that habit.

I know exactly what you mean as well, so many got binned because they are just a fraction out, it's depressing.

A "pod" definitely helps matters. Mine wasn't expensive, £20 or so I think. As you point out is just assists with the little vertical movement cause by "hitting" the shutter release.
