You're absolutely right. It looks like two different boilers, and the cab is definitely British, but you've got me stumped.

I just found a site with USA trains. It appears to be quite extensive with trains from many countries. It is run by a dane. I found it because the photo in this thread made me want to go take some photos of an old danish train and I was searching for information about it, unfortunately if I remember correctly the train in question only runs a few times in december.
