Continuos shoot----how?

I want to shoot fast continuos shoot with my ixus 500, I get the symbol of a4 paper with the letter H, in manual mode, i press the shoot button and keep my finger down, but it only takes 1 photo and not 17 :o

What am i doing wrong?

ignore me, the bloody flash was on, once off it was great, although some blurry shots.
