These shots were taken by me during the last 4/5 cruises we've had.
3 different cameras, all different quality, and some different sizes.
they were taken in Melbourne Australia.

just thought you guys would like to see what us melbournian's get up to on saturday nights :P

usually run the streets with over 700 cars per night. well over 2000 people.

(they are currently trying to ban us from our base carpark, and a rioting committee of old bat's are picketing to get rid of us forever - regardless of the cops saying how good our behaviour is, and regardless of how we support many charitys, red cross, scouts, tsunami appeal, etc etc.., seems not to matter those people who don't like 'hoons') seriously, if you had 700 P plate drivers, would you be more than happy to only hear of 1 or 2 cars doing burnouts or being stupid? the local police were even considering to organise a show 'n' shine day that THE POLICE fund and organise everything, but.... public hates us. heh
what can you do?..

anyway, heres your peak i promised you!

there are atleast 5 UNDER 10 second 1/4 mile cars in these pics, see if you can spot them :P

1. [HULK93] is a VS commodore, taken at Great Ocean Road Cruise.
2. Another VS commdore, fairly standard but i was drooling when i saw those lights!
3. [WLDNYT] and [TEASEU] 2 VT commodores, VERY fast show cars.
4. A VX commodore Ute, shouldn't have used the flash, it had a great underbody red glow to it. seemed a bit to Import style for my liking though.
5. A girl i know, Lee - her VL commodore with an Area body kit.
6.7.8: A line up of cars on the GREAT OCEAN ROAD cruise.
9.10. COPPB8A: a VL commodore Calais Turbo with front mount, gauges and custom side airbrushing "Brescani Racing" (turbo specialists)
11. OverView of our Base carpark, 2 hours BEFORE the cruise departs. still empty ;)

I dont recognise a single one of those cars.
It DOES look like you folks in OZ are really getting into the cruising scene though. ;)
You've got some really nice photos to prove it too.
I'm wondering if that Blue car with the big SS on the fender is a Chevy?

I dont recognise a single one of those cars. :D:D:D Neither did I!
To me, the ultimate under10 second car has peeling paint, stock looking wheels, a kids pink bunny in the back window, and a bumper sticker that says, "My Honor Student Can Kick Your Honor Students Ass!" :D
They used to call those "Q-ships" in WWII. ;)

How about those Ratty looking primer spotted Chevy II's that used to come around on a Saturday Night looking to race somebody.....................for money. ;)
Speaking of which, I'm sure that's why the starship piloted by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars looked to be primer grey instead of shiney. They knew the "GearHeads" would catch on to that.

Look closely, some of the cars do resmeble soe of their americam counterparts! In facvt, the new GTO is basically a holden with slightly different body work, and different badges.... I can't remember exactly the comparable Holden model though....

They call the car Monaro out here......I like the hood they chose for the US model, very nice scoops.

That is so true! Lucas got that right, & everything looked like it had been in action for a long time. Finally no more brand new looking "flying plates" hanging from fishing like, too! Although I just loved the "Hardware Wars" short that someone came up with.:D:D:D

Apologies for hijacking your thread... again, Matty! ;)

haha, your GTO is imported to the US from australia, it's a holden monaro with a different front end and interior,
and the blue car with 'ss' on the 'fender' (1/4 panel over here) is a VK brockie, (peter brock = legendary V8 super car driver) group A i think it is.
look up the newest holden coupe, and look up the VH SS group 3's, you'll fall in love :P

Where are the Ford's? :p

Has the carpark been closed down yet? Or did you fight on.

Just my opinion, but I say, drop the weird angles. I'm not particularly impressed by any of the shots, maybe that's why you got few responses. Nothing really sharp as a tack standing out. Keep it up though, you'll get it.

Peak?

You need to frame your pictures better, also, drop the ricer angles, I'm sure Shazza and Bazza don't appreciate their pushrods being photographed like it's got VTEC.

Isn't this the same car that was driven by Mel Gibson in the original Mad Max? Nice shot. :D
