I need to make sure I am doing this properly, any advice is greatly appreciated.

What software?

Looks like you've raised something too high as you've developed a halo or outline along the camera right side of the cats left ear.

You've also started to develop a purplish tint in the darker areas just to camera right of the cats face.

FWIW, the original is more natural looking to me.

Oh and thanks for pointing out the halo on the ear, I think I pushed the recovery too high in lightroom.

I would say that's probably the cause. But, given that it's only a sheer white curtain back there, what were you trying to recover? Blown out is blown out.

You have a beautiful Cat by the way...

Hm your asking opinion on post processing.... and I would say the original seems better looking to me. Only because of the back part... U changed the saturation, or contrast but the face on the first one comes out a bit better, and the whole image is a lot more softer on the first one... prefer the WB there. :)

I like the crop though.

Noticed this too; I agree that something was adjusted too much.

The only thing I like more about the second one is the eyes of the cat.
