But they are going to CES. Which meets in January rather than February. So they can announce new products before everyone at PMA does.

I think manufacturers recognise that trade shows are expensive and offer fewer financial returns than previously. After all, if Apple can skip the big Mac convention, than Canon can certainly skip a trade show.

My interpretation of this is that Canon does not want to be tied to the trade show circuit where people have come to expect significant announcements from them.
